EMILE FORD
EXCERPT TAKEN FROM AN INTERVIEW WITH NORMAN JOPLIN
RECORD COLLECTOR |
I went to the studio taking along three CDs “The Andrew Lloyd Webber Collection Eddie Cochran’s “Rock & Roll TV Show” and Paul Young’s wherever I Lay My Hat” I met Emile, big and pleasant with a woolly hat—who took me into what once must have been a large cupboard, now jammed to the ceiling with audio equipment. There and then he did a quickie on three tracks: Carl Wayne singing “Starlight Express”, Eddie Cochran’s live “Hallelujah I Love Her So” and the Young hit.
I listened carefully to the results and in each case there was a distinct improvement in the fundamental presence of each recording, a rounder fuller sound not unlike a kind of Fifties widescreen bigness that owed little to modern concepts of digital clarity. Emile calls this Quantum Sound.
